In Transit:

The transition from Summer to Fall can be tricky to navigate! Gone are the flirty florals and flimsy frocks and in come trousers, coats, and mountains of can't believe it's faux fur. Looking for a single accessory to get you through? Take a cue from these celeb looks we found in People Style Watch and add a camel colored hand bag to any (seriously ANY) outfit for an instant dose of on trend transitional cool.

While not exactly bag related I came across this video and found it too awesome not to post! Not only does it illustrate how people in Japan are using technology to its fullest, it also combines my three favorite things in the world: Japan, ice cream, and robots!

If you love Japan and Japanese style as much as I do you'll definitely want to check out our #1 seller in the land of the rising sun (available now for pre-order in the US!)

NY STYLE

Take a Walk: NYC #1 from TrendLand on Vimeo.

We are loving the first installment in a weekly series by trendland.net that captures style savvy New Yorker's in the midst of their daily routines. It is hard to believe that people walk around all day being this fashionable but here's proof! We can't wait to see what they have in store for us with their next vid.

Director of Sales Lorraine Beltran recently had her own foray into being stylish in New York when we exhibited at the Accessories The Show trade show. She brought us back all the dirt on which bags the east coast ladies were fighting to get their hands on and now we are bringing it to you! Go ahead, unleash your inner uptown fashionista:

Let there be light!

The design team at Melie Bianco always makes sure to design with organization in mind. Which includes adding as many pockets and compartments as we can imagine a girl on the go would need.

But the reality of the situation is this: all of the pockets in the world will not keep us ladies from throwing everything we own into a jumble at the bottom of our bag. This jumble leads to the inevitable fumbling around in a dark bag trying to locate a tube of lipstick or trying to balance searching with one hand whie shining your cell phone light into the bag with the other.

This is where Italian designer Nicole Osella’s genius new invention comes in to play. The Bulbo, a ribbon fitted with LED lights, is designed to avoid situations like those mentioned above. This is an add-on module that could fit most of the pieces in your Melie Bianco collection perfectly. It features a silicon bulb on one side and a clip on the other that allows you to hook it onto almost any bag. It even generates its own power by using a sphere which hangs outside of your bag and harnesses the kinetic energy produced by it’s swinging ! Totally eco-friendly and totally genius!

Sure, the invention seems like a dream, but would you ever actually use it? And more importantly would that little swinging ball annoy you as much as I think it might annoy me?

Wild Things

Check out this amazing four step nail make over Shipping Manager Sofia created for Designer Juanita. This on trend manicure is both super chic and super cheap! Talk about looking your best for less....

What you will need:
Gold Polish
Black Polish
Brown Polish
Clear Protective Polish
Tooth Pick
Ball Point Pen

1. Apply your favorite gold polish to nails (this will serve as your base so you may want to apply two coats and allow to dry before proceeding with the rest of the steps)

2. Use a pen dipped in black polish to create "messy" spots, think leopard!

3. Using the tooth pick dipped in brown polish, add brown spots over the black ones you just created.

4. Apply a clear coat of nail polish for protection (Be sure to reapply clear coat daily to extend the life of your manicure!)

Prepare to to have all of your friends fighting one another for an appointment with you (I know we all begged Sofia for our turn as soon as we saw these photos of Juanita's nails)!

Fing Bling

I am always on a search to find new trends to get super excited about and on my venture I came across an article about JAPANESE NAIL ART. From one picture to the next I was transfixed by the colors, details and creativity that goes into this form of artwork. I can imagine the skill, practice and patience it takes to take each individual nail and transform it into walking art. The Japanese are known for their creativity and precision, so that is exactly what goes into the following nail trends for 2010. Whether you're into fake nails or not, you have to admit you've pondered which decorations you wouldn't mind adding on to your 3 inch nails?

Magic

What: Magic is the largest and most prestigious apparel & accessories trade show in the United States. It is the undisputed marketplace for contemporary womens fashion and accessories and a meeting place for buyers and designers both established and up and coming

Where: Vegas baby! Well, more specifically the Las Vegas Convention center.

When: The show is open to all registered buyers, press, and designers from August 17th - 19th

Why: Magic is the place for designers to showcase upcoming lines and mingle with buyers. It is also a great opportunity to receive feedback that ultimately comes from you!

Magic is hard work (for designers), but tons of fun (for buyers)! Through out the day they are treated to all kinds of freebies, musical performances, even free manicures and haircuts! They also get invites to the official (and not so official) after parties that spring up all around town. These are typically hosted by top fashion magazines, celebrities and models, and almost always include a celebrity DJ or two! All in all it is a great time for industry insiders and this year we will be sure to keep you updated via photos and videos through out the event.

Check out some photos from last year:

Cross Our Hearts

Cross-body chain strap bags continue to be an important trend in the celeb/street style worlds. Originally brought to the forefront of fashion by Chanel, the style is now enjoying an extended renaissance, and being re-worked by every major designer in the market. The newest chain strap mini bags are effortless and cool. Super on trend detailing like mixed studs (as seen in the Bridget pictured below) will make sure that a bag only large enough to fit your essentials packs enough of a fashion punch to make you the envy of all your friends.

Prints Charming

All over prints were all the rage for summer and the trend does not appear to be going anywhere come fall. These bold looks command a ton of attention on their own so they work best when paired with toned down accessories to avoid over doing it. We recommend pulling one color out of the print and bringing that out by accessorizing with that shade. There are a million ways to wear prints, but the best way is obviously partnered up with your favorite Melie Bianco bag!

Here are a few ideas from designers and our favorite street style fashionistas alike!

In Living Color

Some of us choose our favorite colors as kids and gravitate towards them for the remainder of our days. Others choose colors based on season, sports teams, or zip codes. Regardless of why you are drawn to them, the colors you choose to wear say a lot about who you are. Read on for your favorite color, what it means, and your Melie Bianco must haves for day and night!

Yellow: The color of happiness, wisdom and imagination, Yellow is chosen by the mentally adventurous, searching for novelty and self-fulfillment. Yellow usually goes with a sunny and shrewd personality, with a good business head and a strong sense of humor. It is the color of intellectuality and all things to do with the mind. Yellow folks are usually clear and precise thinkers who have a good opinion of their own mental capacities and who have lofty ideals. They may at times tend to shun responsibility, preferring freedom of thought and action.

DAY - S10-266 - $77

NIGHT - S10-206 - $19

Green: The color of harmony and balance, Green symbolizes hope, renewal and peace, and is usually liked by the gentle and sincere. Greens are generally frank, community-minded people, fairly sociable but preferring peace at any price. Green people can be too self-effacing, modest and patient, so they may get exploited by others. They are usually refined, civilized and reputable.

DAY - Cecile - $85

NIGHT - Alice - $54

Blue: Soft, soothing, compassionate and caring, Blue is the color of deliberation and introspection, conservatism and duty. Patient, persevering, conscientious, sensitive and self-controlled, Blues like to be admired for their steady character and wisdom. They are faithful, but are often worriers with somewhat inflexible beliefs and can be too cautious, and suspicious of flamboyant behavior.

DAY - S10-167 - $39

NIGHT - Ciara - $74

Brown: A Brown person has stamina and patience, tending to be very solid and substantial, conscientious, dependable, steady and conservative. Browns are not impulsive, and may be inarticulate and tactless but they love responsibility and are reliable and kindly. If you chose Brown, watch out for a tendency to be obstinate and inflexible.

DAY - Stephanie - $87

NIGHT - Stella - $83
