Get Glowing Already!

Summer is one of the hardest seasons to look and feel beautiful in. There is the image portrayed by magazines, a bikini babe in the sand, with full make-up and not a hair out of place. But the reality of summer is frizz, sweat, and lack of motivation to do yourself up.

Enter, a solution! Our resident beauty guru and professional make-up artist Alexis Galvan, who is responsible for the picture perfect makeup on Model/Actress Lina Alvarez (as seen in this photo I stole from our upcoming look book!), shows us how to imitate that dewy glow in three simple steps. And what could be easier than 1, 2, 3....?

Model: Lina Alvarez
Photographer: Juan S. Gomez
Make-Up Artist: Alexis Galvan

Step 1

Glowy Skin: Use a spritz of rose water for initial moisture, then smooth cream or primer (I love M.A.C's Prep and Prime) over your neck and face. This creates a sort of toned, luminous effect, where half the time you don't even need foundation. If you choose to use foundation try M.A.C's Face and Body, it goes on super light, but gives alot of coverage, and then use a Soft Pink or Peach colored blush- to give you a natural blushing- on the apples of your cheek (I use M.A.C Sheertone Blush in Instant Chic.).

Step 2

Subtle Smokey Eye: Use espresso colored eye liner ( flatters all skin types) make sure its water proof and soft enough to use on the inner rim of your eye as well. Wiggle your liner right onto the lash line all around the eye and then draw a cat-eye-ish flair that extends from the outer third of your eye. Then use a Dark Brown or Black mascara - try Maybelline's The Colossal Volume Express.

Step 3

Defined Brows: Rub a little of the same liner on your finger and glide it over your brows. It gives just enough hint to make your eyebrows look super polished.

Step 4

Sheer Berry Lips: Swipe on a balm with just a hint of color ( try Burt's Bees in Replenishing Pomegranate). Or for a stronger lip try Cover Girls lip stain in your favorite Berry shade.
